My name is Donald R. Morrison, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 16 years of experience working in the mental health field. I received my Bachelors in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH), and I later obtained my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC-C). (And on some days, you may be able to meet our Unofficial Office Mascot, Lola!!! She is a Shiz-Tzu who loves everybody, especially if you give her treats!)
Throughout my career, I have worked as a psychotherapist in numerous mental health hospital settings, outpatient programs and school-based services. I most recently ended a 10-year stint as an adjunct professor in the MSW program at UNC-Charlotte, where I taught courses on psychopathology, family practice, group work and crisis intervention. I am also certified in clinical supervision by NASW-NC, and I provide clinical oversight for provisionally licensed clinicians.
My specialties in the field of mental health include working with children, teens and adults living with depression, anxiety, ADHD, ODD, OCD, PTSD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, difficulties with life transitions, relationship problems, LGBTQIA+ issues and struggles with self-esteem. I am a cognitive-behavioral therapist who focuses on exploring and challenging your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in a healthy, action-oriented manner. I also utilize a person-centered, strengths-based approach to treatment, as I totally believe that you are already AWESOME, and that YOU are the expert on what is going on with YOU!!
My name is Jenny Greene, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been working with children since 1994. I worked for Mecklenburg County Early Intervention Services from 1994-2008, providing service coordination as well as specializing in educational services, helping to enhance the development in children from ages 0-3.
I became a stay-at-home Mom until receiving my master’s in social work and becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. I worked for an agency providing Behavioral Mental Heath Services for children between the ages of 4-17.
Due to the pandemic, I chose to open a private practice to continue to do in-person therapy with children. Telehealth therapy is appropriate for older children, and that is available within my practice (based on insurance coverage and health needs). However, I believe that younger children need face to face interactions to help them reach their fullest potential and get the most out of their therapeutic interventions.
Would you like to create space for work/ life balance? Would it be helpful to learn more about the connection between your behaviors, feelings, and thoughts? Are you ready to talk about coping strategies? I work collaboratively with individuals and families to manage stressors, feelings of stress and anxiety, and cope with addictions. I help clients develop coping strategies that may challenge past thoughts and behaviors but lead toward the accomplishment of goals.
My therapeutic approach primarily utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral, Person-Centered, Solution Focused, and Motivational Interviewing techniques. Specifically, in the field of addiction, my approach is congruent with the biopsychosocial model of addiction (biological, social, and psychological risk factors considered). I integrate a combination of mindfulness techniques, therapeutic activities and dialogue in sessions.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work in the mental health and addictions fields in a variety of settings (treatment centers, outpatient mental health hospital, schools, and private practice) providing both counseling and clinical supervision. I attended UNC-Chapel Hill completing a BA in Psychology in 1995 and a MA in Community Counseling from Appalachian in 1999.
Overall, I will work with you to find the treatment plan that is most specific to you and your goals. Sometimes, it is simply reminding ourselves of what worked before and getting back on track, and other times it is about learning something never practiced before.
Greetings! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 25 years of experience in the medical and mental health field. As a clinical social worker and psychotherapist, I have helped people conquer obstacles on their life journey, overcome emotional difficulties that impede their ability to live life to the fullest, discover and love who they truly are, and develop then meet their goals. When we sit together during a session, you will find that I am not only knowledgeable and experienced but that I am also compassionate, validating, and genuine and that I recognize your uniqueness and your value.
I believe that human beings possess strength, resiliency, and the potential to grow throughout their life but bumps in the road – sometimes significant bumps – impede their progress and keep them from moving forward. I help my clients find their own power by helping them accept who they are in this moment and normalizing their life experience, by helping them uncover negative thought patterns, and by helping them explore past experiences that may be interfering with present happiness. Objectively, I will listen as you describe your current difficulties and the experiences that have molded your thoughts and beliefs, then I will help you learn effective coping skills, thought changing practices, and the art of mindful awareness in an effort to help you discover, or rediscover, your sparkle.
My areas of specialty are: life transitions, personal growth, self-doubt (low self-esteem), chronic stress, depression and anxiety (chronic or transitionory), relationship issues, loneliness or isolation, and grief as it relates to missed opportunities or developmental stages (“life has passed me by”). I also have extensive experience helping clients process their childhood trauma, sexual trauma, and combat-related trauma.
I have received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and I often use elements from Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) when helping my clients. I actively participate in continuing education and trainings and engage in regular consultation in an effort to grow as a therapist and as a human being.
I offer individual sessions (in person and virtual) as well as group sessions (in person only) when interest is expressed, and I work with adults who are 18 years and older. Please call me at 704-954-8347 to arrange a free 15-20 minute consultation so we can make sure we are a good fit for one another.
